around the house for the rest of the day, he realized he missed his
brother. Everything he did alone just made him more and more sad.
Even though Connor bothered him, Cameron still loved him. And it
was so boring being all by himself. He found his magic book, and he
looked and looked for the spell to make things reappear, but he
couldn't find it. He began to panic. What if Connor really never
came back? He went back to the kitchen to talk to his momWhen she Cameron, she knew something was wrong right away. "What's the matter buddy?" she asked.
"Mom, I think I messed up." Cameron hung his head. He really didn't want to get in trouble. He just wanted his brother back.
"Uh oh.. What'd you do?"
"It's Connor."
"Honey, Connor's gone. You made him disappear, remember?"
"I know. I want him back, though. I miss him." Cameron could feel himself starting to cry. He tried his best not to let that happen.
"But I thought you were sick of him. I thought you wanted some peace and quiet so you could play video games all by yourself. You can't undo it now, remember? You don't have a reappearing spell."
"I've got to find one! I don't know what I'll do if he doesn't come back. We could go to the bookstore and find another magic book." Cameron was really scared they wouldn't be able to find the right book.
"I don't think we'll need to do that," she said. "Connor! Come on out!"
Cameron heard a door opening, and Connor came walking out of their parents' bedroom. Cameron was so relieved he ran over and gave his brother a hug. He had been so afraid he would never see Connor again that he didn't care how annoying his brother was. Just as long as he didn't disappear again.
"How did you get there? Did you find a reappearing spell, Mom?"
"You could say that." she told him. Connor looked at his mom questioningly. Mom gave him a wink and Connor smiled. After Cameron ran off to get their video game started, she whispered in Connor's ear, "Remember. It's our little secret."

go, dnm, go!
you've done a great job with these daily stories this month--in quantity and quality, both. you have so many strong starting points to work from now, and your portfolio must be bursting at the seams at this point.
the first two stories in this chapter caught my attention (and affection) with their desperate tones and singular perspectives. i hava an affinity for apocalypse scenarios, so your meteor story hit close to home for me. loved it. would love to hear more about how your mc navigates this world after the catastrophe.
in your second story, you bring across the desperation in your character well. the intensity didn't let up, and i was intrigued, wondering what this person was searching for. the mystery deepened when we discover the letter. oooh, good stuff. both stories are contenders for expanding.
keep going! you're our only hope for making it to the end of the challenge!! *waves pom poms*
