How quickly one forgets from whence he came and why he came when the lust for power, fame and money corrupts his soul and destroys his purpose. Just a little ditty to jog the memory.

Dedicated to the Frozen Chosen:
The truths you tell, get drowned in lies
You say you love; then criticize
You laugh and scoff at those who hurt
You brush them off like they were dirt
The truths you tell, are just your ploy
To rape the flock that you destroy
Your pulpit high above the crowd
You spew your hate so strong and loud
The truths you tell, have hypnotized
Behind your robes you stay disguised
You prey upon the lowly sheep
For fame and gold are all you seek
The truths you tell, you don’t believe
For if you did, your heart would grieve
But all you want is just more power
To keep you safe in ivory towers
The truths you tell, The lies you tell
Could seal your fate to burn in hell
For you have promulgated hate
And His glory wasn't yours to take
The truths you tell, you’ll find are true
When Christ returns and deals with you
When once again he takes his place
To love and heal the human race
The truths you tell, could save you still
For hating you is not his will
Remember now, what once you taught
To live the truths that you forgot
The truths you tell, but to deceive
Will last throughout eternity
For what He taught still echoes true
Do unto to others, what you want done unto you
Just a reminder to the self righteous bigots that use God's word to bring them power, fame and fortune!

Frozen Chosen is a nick name for self righteous people that think that they have the only truth and are superior to others. If anything, true spirituality should make you humble. Jesus was never hateful. Yes he spoke the truth about sin, but mostly he loved people and healed them. They were drawn to his love and his purity. Most that followed him did it from love not fear or duty. He commanded us not to condemn or even judge others.
I have seen some real religious atrocities in my life. People are building bigger, fancier buildings and forgetting about the needs of the people. Jesus didn't need a billion dollar building to preach in. It seems that people who get into the famous area of ministry are the most dangerous. I have heard the worst divicive things from them. Statements about Katrina for instance, That God sent a hurrican to wipe it out because they had a gar pride parade planned... Saying that God allowed 911 because we allowed gays in the military,,, People killing innocent people in and around an abortion clinic.. There are much better ways to address these issues of abortion etc through love than through hate. Once again, they are taking the position of God when they judge and cause hatred. Some preachers (famous ones) have pushed Bush's policies of war... Now they are finally changing their minds, but they caused a great divide among the churches. Ted Haggard had 40 million looking up to him and they were advised to vote for Bush,, by him,,, every week behind his pultpit he made Bush seem like a God, sent here to destroy the Muslims. Then he was caught doing meth and having sex on a regular basis with a gay man. It is happening all over in lots of churches. The priests caught raping little boys,, you name it...
Some Preachers use just enough of God's truth to get what they
want. The true minister is self denying, and he sacrifices
for his flock. Many volunteer to help in third world
countries while living in adverse circumstances. Some open
missions to feed and house the poor... Doctors come together to
treat people for free, and they are Christians... they are doing
what Jesus commanded,,, to love others. Jesus warned
that there would be false teachers who would rape the flock... and
people look for leaders to follow and to be nurtured in the things
of God.... I guess he was right that many would be led
astray by them.. It is happening all around us... Thanks for
critiquing.. I will edit this... ![]()
This, for me, hits a sore spot. I have had to dill with self searving people all my life. My mom had chose a road that most people found sinful, and instead of just praying and leaving it in Gods hands, they took it out on my sister and myself. People can turn into horble things when they believe they are doing it for the good of the church. The forget that we are not here to juge. The hide the God that is loving and kind, behind self searving bible verses. Thank you for taking the time to write this, it made me happy to know I am not the only one to see what is really going on out there.
This is really deep, and if I did not feel so much for about this topic I would have left it alone. But I cant so here we go...
The truths you tell, The lies you tell
I think it would be better to say "the lies you sale" because its all about saleing the the lie and hidding the truth.
The truths you tell, you’ll find are true
Try "What truths you tell" Not everything is lies and not every word said is false, so by useing "What" your able to show that more.
The truths you tell, could save you still
The same with this line
The truths you tell, but to deceive
This ones hard and I stumble over it. I am not sure at what you want this line to tell the reader.
So far so good, I love it, but you know that. The ending(not going with the poem) is great! I like it. Keep writing!

I liked it!!! You really worked hard on this.
I am a little confused by the phrase "the frozen chosen" - I know from the context of the poem you mean evangelists, especially those who were like Jim Bakker. I also think the last line noting the reminder is unneccessary and it breaks the focus of the poem. One last thing - I think the comma in "the truths you tell" lines are unnecessary, as well.
That's all I can offer, J. Love the poem!
