Second my defaulting guess
my own look of a most certain despair
tell the others, "listen to know"
for I speak, but from the sleeve
Tainted with higher than substandards
attempting not to fail
giving into
what they want, and
what they expect
Less to predict, more to know
falling into filled buckets,
a living standard, a poster child
keeping one more in line
Do not question, ignorance is bliss
Do not question, ignorance is bliss
Do not question, ignorance is bliss
Tainted with higher than substandards
attempting not to fail
giving into
what they want, and
what they expect
Ride this curb to the end
the end of what we hold to be true
Ride this curb
Ride this curb
Ride this curb
we hold to be true

These are definitely heavy rock lyrics. You have even touched on the paramount question of trying to to do things that are both mainstream acceptable and things that are credible. By all means keep working at your lyrics.
verry nice and who ever says you need a rhyme scheme to be a good writer keep it up my friend youll go places with your music keep on keepin on!!!
Hey Pynguin,
This is definitely a rock song in the making, I can picture the head banging and solo guitars now. But more than that you have a literary talent here to. The word placement and tempo of the peice fit together nicely and the imagery you use is definitely tantalizing.

This is a great and solid verse. I love the oxymoronic "Higher than substandards" it speaks volumes for the overall tone of the work.
The line:
tell the others, "listen to know"
kind of threw me off a little bit....might want to think about rewording it....quotations don't translate well to music lyrics and you will likely lose your listeners/readers at this point on the meaning.
Overall very well done though
As far as rock songs go, this is one of the best works.

falling into buckets, a living standard, a poster child

Truth be told, I failed to see the meaning in this line and I think you might want edit "tell the others, listen to know" give it some clarity.
Overall, my man. Good rock song!

Pynguin, I can just imagine these lyrics as a rock song. Where it says Do not question, ignorance is bliss, that sort of gives me the impression that there is an electric guitar solo somewhere after that part. I have a question, do you think of becoming a rock star one day? Because what I think is that you have the potential to become either a singer or a lyricist. Honestly, I think that I you should be. I define you as a rock star in a potantial way. If you want to become one, just stick with continuously writing your lyrics. The more you write, the better your songs are going to sound. Tell me what you think about my suggestion on my scratchpad. Take care! I loved this poem and I hope to see more.
