Contest Entries

Well folks, another month has passed us and another contest draws to a close. Ah, the beautiful cycle of life! We’ll be busy for the next few days reading the entries for the May contest. Winners will be announced by June 7, and we’ll have the details of the next contest up even sooner. Remember to vote for your favorite entry–we take the votes into account when selecting a winner! The entries to the May contest follow:

May Contest, by Elizabeth Leigh
Grumblings of a Grumpy Old Man, by Bob Onnie
Smiley Face Gang, by Charlotte Clancy
Even My Dust, by William Craig
Critiquer of the Month
Critiquer of the Month is always one of the hardest parts of the month, and yet we always manage to have lots of fun at the same time. We get to go back over a month’s worth of critiques and comments and read the great feedback that you’ve all left each other and bicker amongst ourselves as to who should come out on top. Frankly, this month was a very difficult decision. Lots of members wrote swaths of great material, among them M.L. Stevens, Sherry.Atwood, and Laurie Paulsen; but in the end, Critiquer of the Month is a lonely (but prestigious!) honor, and we had to narrow it down to one: and our selection this month is Lisette Wood!
Lisette spent a lot of time this month critiquing and commenting on works of every type and genre. Like the best critiquers, her critiques are insightful, kind, and just plain useful. Thanks to Lisette for helping make Scribophile a great place to write–if you’ve been lucky enough to get a critique from her (or are just feeling nice) go ahead and congratulate her on her scratchpad!
And Now, to the Batcave!
Fetch us some tea, Alfred, we’ve got some contest entries to read!
