Is it just us or do these summer months just fly by? July’s over and every day is getting a little sunnier and a little warmer. That means it’s time for us to slide on our contest-judging pantaloons, take one last sip of that mint julep, and start reading! You’ll find the entries for the July contest below, and we’ll have the results up by August 7.

Critiquer of the Month
Our Critiquer of the Month award for the month of July goes to none other than Brian Mattocks! If you’re a number cruncher, the volume of Brian’s critiques will set your calculator spinning. Not only has he generously critiqued a huge number of works over the past month, but he’s provided genuine insight into the writing process and helped more than a few writers flesh out their drafts. On top of that, Brian’s Welcome Wagon/Mentoring Motorcar circle has done a great job of fostering that community spirit that helps make Scribophile a great place to write. If you’re feeling like critiquing, take a look at Brian’s works, and while you’re there, make sure to congratulate him on his scratchpad!
