hi, all--

i've been doing a lot of motivational thinking, and i gotta get somewhere with this novel! i've written almost 50k words, and have still about 30% of the novel to go--developing this storyline, fleshing out this character, making plot points line up, etc.

i thought maybe getting some outside feedback on my fledgling would help, but i've decided to take it off the slab for a little while and focus on finishing it. wish me luck!!

when i have something worth reading and ready for in-depth edits, i'll be back to harangue you all for your opinions. i appreciate the group, and my thanks go to anna for starting this circle.

best of luck to everyone and their projects!! i'll be back.

Hey y'all. I am about to publish a novella (Like a novel, but a bit shorter) it is called Heart of Ice. Read it sometime!

I posted the prologue and the first chapter of my novel. Even though it says Chapter 1, the prologue is labeled. It's kinda confusing but I think that if you read it you'll understand.

Right, so I've posted the first few chapters of my novel, too. The first one, though, is just a sort of prologue, so even though it says Chapter 1: Prologue, it's just a prologue, and it's supposed to be confusing--it'll make sense later on. I know, I know, disclaimer. I also have a lot of my novel completed--what amounts to almost...probably 60k words or so (don't really know because it's not on this computer just yet), but I didn't want to just post it all on here right away, lol. They're pretty short chapters, too. And my poetry teacher said something pretty good the other day--we had sent home copies of poems the previous week, and he was apologizing for the massive amounts of red ink on our papers, saying that he critiques best when he's sick or tired, and he was really sick and tired. lol

okay, so i've posted my first chapter...it's nowhere near finished as far as pacing, fleshing out characters, paring down unnecessary drivel. but it's up.

i've got 21 chapters so far, a wee bit over 50K words, but i won't force that on you.

i'm nervous. why am i nervous? hm. okay, well...it's posted. that's a good thing, right? moving forward. one step closer to my goal. yep.

*curls up under blankie on the sofa*

Hey Laurie--

I know how you feel..I've been writing my first novel for..goodness, almost three years, and I'm probably just past the halfway point--maybe further, but I'm honestly not sure. I was hoping being part of a circle would help, too, so I guess we're both in the right place, huh?

hi, anna--

i've been struggling with my first novel, and i'm hopeful having a circle to lean on will help me get motivated. i could also use help figuring out how to properly rewrite the thing. that's what i'm calling it right now...'the thing'. *sigh*

thanks for starting this circle!
