Screenwriter Richard Krevolin Shares the Secrets of the Trade
By Lorre Fritchy
with some added comments from me from other sites I've researched (i.e. onthepage.tv)
Start at the finish. (Pilar Alessandra from onthepage.tv...10
minute exercise what's the best/worst that can happen)
Real work...how events unfold
Just tell the story (no room for jokes or overwriting)
Respect rules of your genre (unless you plan to be film NOIR
maker)
"The System is intentionally built to keep people OUT; your job is
finding a creative way to get IN."
character must change by end of story and show it visually
include monologues (also known as Oscar clips)
can't get an agent but can get entertainment lawyer, independent
producer, and manager
films (visual and visceral [characterized by or dealing with coarse
or base emotions; earthy; crude]...emotional engagement)
Three P's
Patience
Don't give them a
technical reason to say no
Takes longer if you
don't live in LA
Persistence
Show you're serious
High concept pitch
Perseverance

Hello, all...Excited about seeing you guys here since it took awhile to find you on the search page (searched screenwriting first)...anyway, Stigma...what do you have in mind for your circle...what is the best you expect and what's the worst...I have been listening to a podcast called On the Page:Scriptwriting by Pilar Alessandra on odeo.com...it's an enjoyable question and answer session about screenwriter...it's just nice to hear screenwriters banter...I've been a true fan of listening to director and screenwriter commentaries while watching movies simly for the banter and to know how they think...unfortunately that means I watch some movies alone which AI don't mind doing...actually I do quite a bit of my screenwriting research alone until a new girl started at work who is working on her script for a pilot...she's awesome...we spent about two hours talking about character development, especially building multi-faceted characters...enough about my week, my first question for this circle...do you find that screenwriting is a complete different art than fiction writing
I hope the reality of all being human and caretakers of Earth can become cause to help humanity heal from the injustices of the past and unite for a greater, loving future.
Patrick, that sounds amazing. Do you have anything of it down yet? Or are you still in pre-write?
Stigma, racism seems to be the main theme of both of your writings. Any particular reason why?
