So what's the review queue anyway?
The review queue is where new works go to be critiqued by the community. Every work published on Scribophile gets on the review queue eventually, even though in some cases it may take a while. Authors earn extra karma points for critiques of works that are on the review queue.
How does it work, exactly?
When there's an open spot on the review queue, the next work in line will take its place. Works stay on the review queue until one of the following conditions are met:
- The work receives at least 3 critiques, each longer than 125 words.
- The work has been on the review queue for 3 days.
Once any one of those two conditions are met, the work will leave the review queue to make room for the next work in line.
Notice that neither the total number of comments/critiques nor the author's Scribophile reputation affect whether a work will leave the review queue or not—only comments longer than 125 words count!
That's great! So how do I get my works up there faster!
The fastest way to get your work on the review queue is to write detailed critiques for works that are currently in the queue. Remember, once a work hits 3 critiques longer than 125 words, it's automatically removed to make room for the next work, so the more detailed your critiques are, the faster the queue will move and the faster your work will get up there!
But I don't know how to critique! How will I fill up 125 words?
Critiquing isn't hard at all, and anyone can do it. One of the best ways is to quote the work as you're reading it in the "Add Comment" page, and writing feedback for quoted passages instead of the work as a whole. You can also contact the author via Scratchpad or private message to ask them what kind of help they're looking for. For a better idea of how to write a critique, read this, or just contact us.
Alright, I'll get to critiquing right away!
Glad to hear it! If you have any questions, go ahead and contact us!
