Member-Sponsored Through the Eyes of a Villain Contest

Details

Deadline:Apr 27, 2018
Fee:Free

“The villain is usually the most interesting part. But it has to be a smart thing.” Christoph Waltz

The villain in a story is the character who opposes your main character’s goals supplying the conflict for your plot. A good villain has purpose and is as equally developed and complex as your main character. The stronger your villain, the stronger your protagonist must be to overcome them.

We challenge you to write a prose from the viewpoint of a villain. Within one scene, expose the heart and core of a character who is opposing and fighting against a concept considered good by majority.

It's not necessary for the judges to “like” your villain but the character should be believable to their world and evoke emotion from the reader.

Prize money for this contest is provided by the Scribophile Writing Contest Prize Fund.
