Group-Sponsored An Event to Remember Contest

Group-Sponsored An Event to Remember Contest

Details

Deadline:Mar 31, 2016
Fee:Free

This contest is sponsored by the Strange/Weird group.

An event could be a small thing—something happens on the bus you take to work, a favourite dish breaks, or the car won't start. The special day you look forward to all year is not special anymore. The event could be apocalyptic, changing everything.

Whatever the event, the outcome must surprise us, shock us, make us exclaim that we didn't see that coming. It must also be believable. Opening the nursery door and finding a dragon in the crib certainly qualifies as strange, but unless you've done a masterful job of plotting, isn’t believable.

Submit a work of fiction, 3,000 words or less. Remember this is a Strange/Weird contest, but all sub-genres are accepted. The event could be past or present. It could be a story of the event itself, or how the event affected the outcome of the story. (In a weird way, of course.)
