Group-Sponsored "Disaster!" Contest

This contest is sponsored by the Flash Group. Submit a flash fiction story of no longer than 1,000 words. Each story should be related in some way to the theme "Disaster!" Some examples: Divorce (personal), Election (political), Power Black-out (technological), War (social), Meteor (natural), Alien Invasion (terrestrial), End of the World (cosmic). Serious or humorous. Many more possibilities. Use your imagination. Short fiction only please. No memoirs, novel chapters, or non-fiction.

Rules

  • To enter the contest, post your work on Scribophile and check the box that says "Enter this work into the Group-Sponsored 'Disaster!' Contest." Your work will automatically be considered.

  • The checkbox will be visible until the contest deadline of Midnight October 15, 2016 (UTC time).

  • Entry is free, but you'll need karma points to post your work. You can earn karma points by writing critiques of work by other members.

Submission guidelines

  • Entries must be received before midnight October 15, 2016 (UTC) and the winners will be announced on or before November 15, 2016 (UTC).

  • Entries must be no more than 1,000 words per Scribophile's count.

  • Multiple entries are not allowed.

  • No poetry or novel chapters.

  • Work must have Public visibility on Scribophile until a winner is announced.

  • If you have placed in a contest in the past with a particular piece, you may not resubmit that piece to this contest.
