Group-Sponsored Experimental Flash Fiction Contest

Group-Sponsored Experimental Flash Fiction Contest

Details

Deadline:Oct 15, 2014
Fee:Free

This contest is co-sponsored by Please Try This at Home, an experimental fiction group, and Flash, a flash fiction group.

We are looking for flash fiction, 1000 words or less, written in experimental forms. This could include:

  • quizzes
  • stream-of-consciousness
  • false non-fiction (fake news articles, definitions, technical reports, etc.)
  • computer code
  • catalogs or lists (listicles)
  • non-linear narratives (can be linked to a dropbox file for formatting, but make sure to put the link in the body of the piece, not just the ‘about this work’ section)
  • invented dialects or experimental languages (but NOT bad accents)

This is not an exhaustive list; please feel free to surprise us with a form we’ve never seen before. Just remember that it’s the form that needs to be experimental, not necessarily the content.

All genres are welcome and adult content is okay. You do not need to be a part of either group to enter, but you’re strongly encouraged to check them out.
