Group-Sponsored Flash Fiction with a Blog Element Contest

Group-Sponsored Flash Fiction with a Blog Element Contest

Details

Deadline:Dec 15, 2020
Fee:Free

In honor of National Blog Post Writing Month, Bloggers, unite! is sponsoring a flash fiction contest. For the purposes of this contest, we are defining flash fiction as a fairly straightforward yet difficult-to-execute type of storytelling that prizes brevity and involves a twist ending that matches the theme or “thesis” in an unexpected way.

To be considered, works should include a blogging element that is central to the story in some way. For example, consider the horror novel Feed by Mira Grant. We encourage you to interpret the prompt broadly and creatively.

Criteria for judging will include:

  1. How well the blogging element is integrated into the story

  2. The effectiveness of the hook

  3. The effectiveness of the overall prose, and

  4. The impact of the ending. Elements will be given equal weight.
