Group-Sponsored Gen X Holiday Contest
Details
| Deadline: | October 31 (42 days left) |
| Fee: | Free |
The Gen X group invites you to submit your Gen X-inspired short stories to this holiday contest.
Your short story can feature any holiday during any season or era, but must have a Gen X perspective. This contest aims to celebrate all things Gen X and holidays (good or bad). We’re looking for stories that will evoke the Gen X experience during the holidays. Any genre will be considered.
Be sure to polish those pieces before the deadline! We’ll be judging the stories on the following criteria: readability (SPaG matters), nostalgia-inducing (will it remind our judges of our own perspective on the holidays?), high five-worthiness (will it make us want to tell other people about this story?), good vibes (does the story spark memories of the Gen X youth experience?), and lastly, recognizable Gen X references (but don’t make the entire piece a bunch of Gen-X references, please).
The contest judges are N. E. White, adventure fantasy author, and Imrak Eriksson, journeyman storyteller and habitual overthinker. We're both Gen Xers so feel we are completely qualified to judge any contest.
Prize money for this contest is provided by the Scribophile Writing Contest Prize Fund.

No AI! Gen Xers came of age in an era before AI played any role in creative writing, and for this contest we’d like entries to be crafted in that same spirit: wholly by the writer, without AI generation or assistance. By entering this contest, you’re telling us you did not use AI to develop or write your short story. If we find out otherwise, your entry will be disregarded.
Submission guidelines
Entry is free, but you’ll need 5 karma points to post your work to the contest. You can earn karma points by writing critiques of work by other members.
To post your work for this contest, when posting your story to Scribophile, be sure to check the box that says "Enter this work into the Group-Sponsored Gen X Holiday Contest.” Your work will automatically be considered. The check box will be visible until the contest deadline, which is in UTC time.
