Group-Sponsored Holiday Celebration Mini-Contest
Details
Deadline: | Dec 25, 2012 |
Fee: | Free |
It's Christmas! We're listening to songs about Christmas, we're being subjected to tinfoil and bored-looking teenagers in elf suits, we've got glitter in impossible places. I don't want to torture your creative bone with MORE Christmas.
But, The New Fairy Tale group has been inspired by the sense of a season at this time of year. So here's the gig: write a flash or short story that features a seasonal celebration in no more than 4500 words. Your entry should include the following:
- Elements of a fairy tale (you can read more about that here).
- The sense of a season (spring, summer, autumn, or winter). I can also be Christmas, Ramadan, a hunting season, harvest time, etc.
- Your entry has to include one or more characters based on the following: a mythical hero (one that actually exists in texts somewhere: Prometheus, Perseus, Theseus, Odysseus, etc.), a witch (male or female, either is fine), and/or a fairy of any mythical origin.
- A celebration, as in a seasonal festival (Bel Tine, Christmas, Diwali, Hanukkah, or you can make up your own).
The deadline is December 25th and winners will be announced on January 7th, 2013. If you have questions or concerns, head on over to The New Fairy Tale Discussion Board and ask away!
