Member-Created Seaside and Sailors Limerick Contest

Details

Deadline:Jul 31, 2012
Fee:Free

There once was a man by the sea

His beard was salty as can be

He slipped on a rock

While on a walk

And saw mermaids forever in his tea.

It’s hotter than Hades’ armpit in Egypt right now, so what better way to cool down than with refreshing seaside limericks? A limerick is a five line poem following an AABBA rhyme scheme. They are meant to be lighthearted, fun, and possibly even risqué (There once was a man from Nantucket, after all). The theme? Seaside and sailors, of course. We all want to be beachside, but unless one of us wins the lottery and shares with everyone else, we’re going to have to make due with beachy limericks.

Two entries are allowed per entrant. Anything not a limerick will be disqualified.
