Member-Sponsored Asylum Contest

Member-Sponsored Asylum Contest

Details

Deadline:Apr 10, 2021
Fee:Free

From the Dancing Plague (Strasbourg 1518) to the multiple phobias we have today, mental health professionals have dealt with all kinds of serious and complex pathologies. Now, you can help us to imagine new and challenging mental diseases for our fictional Asylum! Send us your cases.

Create a fictional mental pathology and use it in a story with the setting of your choice.

Examples:

  • Less is More Overdose

  • Alien Lighthouse Pyromania

  • Miss Riddle Vanishing Syndrome

  • Self-defense Suicide Attempt

  • Screens Deprivation Phenomenon

  • Super Antihero Complex

  • Shapeshifterphilia

  • Post Cryogenic Iceberg Addiction

  • Fried Mermaid Eating Compulsion

You are free to use these examples but strongly encouraged to create your own pathology. The verisimilitude is not required or forbidden but real, known, and typified pathologies are not allowed. The way to use the fictional mental pathology in the story is your choice.

All genres are welcome. The word limit is 500 words by Scribophile's count.

Prize money for this contest is provided by the Scribophile Writing Contest Prize Fund.
