Member-Sponsored Flash Flood Warning! Contest

Member-Sponsored Flash Flood Warning! Contest

Details

Deadline:Apr 30, 2022
Fee:Free

Spring has arrived for most of us, and with it the potential for lots and lots of rain, wind, and storms! It's almost like the earth is purging itself, taking a nice long shower, washing away all the yuck and getting ready to put on its gorgeous, new colors. Let's celebrate that with a flood of flash fiction!

For this contest, I want stories that contain a spring weather element: give me your downpours, tornadoes, lightning storms, hail the size of (insert your favorite ball here), or just a soothing, gentle drizzle on a Sunday afternoon—your weather element doesn't have to be the main focus of your story, but it needs to be more than a mere mention. I want to feel that pouring rain, I want to hear those gusts of wind, I want to be shook when that lightning strikes.

This contest is for flash fiction, so that means 1,000 words or less. The best flash fiction still tells a complete story, it just does it in less words. Make every word count!

All genres are welcome.

Happy Spring, happy writing, and good luck!

Prize money for this contest is provided by the Scribophile Writing Contest Prize Fund.
