Member-Sponsored freeze frame fiction flash frenzy 5

Details

Deadline:May 28, 2015
Fee:Free, but feel free to donate at http://freezeframefiction.com/support/

freeze frame fiction, a quarterly flash fiction publication, is holding a contest here on Scribophile to accompany our fifth quarter submissions. Entries should be good flash fiction, pure and simple. All genres, no content restrictions: 1,000 words or less.

Good flash fiction is like a freeze frame—a snapshot of a real story about real people. The word count is low, so many of the details are left to the reader to fill in, but they're there in the background. Flash fiction is not the same as a vignette, or a scene; it hints at much more. It requires a connection between the reader and the writing, and when done well, it leaves a lasting impression.

For an idea of what we like to publish, check out our fourth volume—free to read online: http://freezeframefiction.com/read/q4-flash-fiction/
