Member-Sponsored Just Listen to This! Contest

Details

Deadline:Mar 17, 2017
Fee:Free

I want to say thank you for all the continuing support Scribophile gives me so I’ve thought up a competition.

As a “storyteller” I’m always looking for the kind of tale you’d want to read aloud, a “Just listen to this!” kind of story.

Can you come up with a read-aloud tale which contains a famous film quote? The American Film Institute’s website in its list section has 100 years 100 Movie Quotes. Whichever quote you choose should make complete sense in the context of the writing, i.e. If the quote is, “I am Spartacus,” then it should be logical that the character in your story says this. Any style is acceptable: monologue, dialogue, first person, third person etc. The key is that it should rivet a listener's attention.

An Interesting Tidbit

Herman Melville’s Moby-Dick was so unpopular that it was essentially a lost work until 1930, when it was “rediscovered” by a scholar.
