Chris Drew has welcomed Scrib to run a contest in honor of her late husband. Chris and others who knew Bubba describe him as a gentle giant.
In his memory we’re running a humor contest for all things giant. Giant is up to interpretation. It can be a(n) tree, ocean, sky, mountain, apple, planet, love, galaxy, ostrich, a person, or wherever your imagination leads you.
In lieu of a cash prize or karma, the contest prizes will be in the form of charitable donations to Heifer International. Through humor we can comfort Chris and pay tribute to her husband while helping villages throughout underdeveloped countries. Wiki describes Heifer International as a “global nonprofit working to eradicate poverty and hunger through sustainable, values-based holistic community development.”
Entries will be judged on their interpretation of the prompt, humor, and writing quality. We’re looking for stories which will linger long after the last word.
Prize money for this contest is provided by the Scribophile Writing Contest Prize Fund.

Rules
Entries must be received before July 15th 2018, 23:59 PM, UTC.
All humor is accepted. Bittersweet, dark, slapstick, subtle, etc.
Short stories, children stories, picture books, flash-fiction, screen-plays, and poetry are eligible. Novel chapters will not be considered.
All genres welcome. No explicit/graphic erotica/violence.
Fiction and non-fiction allowed.
Entries must be 3,000 words or fewer by Scribophile’s count.
Only one entry per member, please. Multiple entries will all be disqualified.
Work must have Public visibility on Scribophile until the winners are announced.
If you have placed in a contest in the past with a particular piece or the piece has been published, you may not resubmit that piece to this contest.
Submission guidelines
To enter the contest, post your work on Scribophile and check the box that says “Enter this work into the Member-Sponsored Something Giant Contest.” Your work will automatically be considered. The check box will be visible until the contest deadline, which is in UTC time.
Entry is free, but you’ll need karma points to post your work. You can earn karma points by writing critiques of other members’ work.
First, second and third place winners must have a valid Paypal account.
