Member-Sponsored Unlikeable Character Contest

Details

Deadline:Aug 31, 2012
Fee:Free

People have always had characters they love despite the character being an awful creature. That character who is genuinely insufferable because of their actions and attitude, but you still can’t get enough. Don Draper of “Mad Men” fame is a good example. He can’t keep his pants on around women not his wife, lies, cheats, and snarks his way through life, but you still root for him. That character, the despicable rogue or catty bitch who somehow becomes more real than any of the other characters, is the one you’re highlighting for this contest.

Your entry must be a piece of fiction (any genre, it’s open) no more than 3000 words long. Give us your best inherently unlikeable character. Ice Blade wants to read some awful characters and is offering 10 karma to three winners that three Scribophile member judges select.

If you need inspiration, you can visit this thread to find out what other Scribbers had to say about inherently unlikeable characters. Or just ask yourself what Don Draper would do after he finished berating Peggy.
