Spark: A Creative Anthology Contest One
Details
Deadline: | Mar 1, 2013 |
Fee: | Free to post here, $10 to enter (see below for details) |
Spark: A Creative Anthology is holding a contest with prizes that are beyond irresistible. Not only that, but you're getting a leg up on the competition by prepping for it here.
Spark has challenged you to submit a piece for Volume II of the anthology for Contest One. The real challenge comes in when you have to include a 90 word or less description on the entry form explaining how the word "spark" has influenced or inspired your work. There is no genre restriction, but there are some helpful suggestions on Spark's Submission Guidelines page you should take a peek at.
- Prose: Must be no more than 12,000 words, fiction and creative nonfiction included.
- Poetry: Any style, meter, rhyme scheme, or form, but must be less than 150 lines.
There are prizes for both poetry and prose categories, so each level of prize has two winners:
GRAND PRIZE
- $500 cash via PayPal
- Publication in Spark: A Creative Anthology, Volume II
- One year subscription to Poets & Writers Magazine
- Two year subscription to Duotrope
- Lifetime Premium Membership here at Scribophile.
SECOND PLACE
- $100 cash via PayPal
- One year subscription to Duotrope
- Lifetime Premium Membership here at Scribophile.
THIRD PLACE
- One year subscription to Duotrope
- One year Premium Membership here at Scribophile.
Forewarning: This isn't a Scribophile contest. You are certainly encouraged to post your work to this contest so you can get your work critiqued before entering it on the Spark Anthology website. SIMPLY POSTING IT HERE ON SCRIBOPHILE DOES NOT MEAN YOU HAVE ENTERED THE CONTEST. It does mean that you'll have a better shot because of the feedback offered, however. Plus you'll get a good look at the competition.
To enter, head on over here to the entry form. There is a $10 submission fee when you enter on Spark, but it's still free to post it here (minus the karma, anyway).

Submission guidelines
There are no age limits for this contest other than legal restrictions imposed by your local jurisdiction. In the event that a younger winner is ineligible for any non-cash prize because of age, an equivalent cash prize will be substituted.
You may enter multiple pieces in this contest, and you may enter both poetry and prose, but each entrant can win at most one prize, no matter how many entries were made.
You may submit your entry early, but we will not begin reading any entries until January 1, 2013.
There is a $10 submission fee to enter the contest. Entry fees are non-refundable. To post the piece on Scribophile, there is no entry fee (only the usual karma to post your work).
